Gifts for the Gardener and DIY-Tufa

My amazing gardening friend, Barbara, just had the Grand Opening of her shop, Gifts for the Gardener.  She's been working round-the-clock to spruce up the cottage and make her products a source of delight for everyone who gardens or wishes they did.

She's kindly offered me a spot on her covered breezeway to introduce the joys of hypertufa creation to the public.  I've done several mini-classes as a University of Florida Master Gardener at the County Extension Center, but here's a chance for you to Do-It-Yourself (DIY) at the Bayard Antique Village.

At a DIY-Tufa class, you and a small group will spend two hours making a variety of items, like a planter, a toad house, and a mushroom.  You'll also explore techniques for decorating your creations.   The things we make will vary from class to class but they will ground you in techniques for producing a variety of items from this easy-to-work-with concrete.  Class price is $25; discounts given to Master Gardeners, National Garden Club members, and charitable 501(c)3 organizations.  The first classes start in early May, and Barabara will have signup sheets at her Gifts for the Gardener Roadshow at the EPIC Flower and Garden Show 4/18-19 ($5 2-day admission per person) as well as her store which is open Friday through Sunday.
